RAM Speeds on Motherboard descriptions

Hi guys,

I'm currently looking at purchasing a Z270 motherboard (most likely Asus either the Strix Z270E or the Maximus IX Formula) and they state for RAM speeds they support 2400 speed for Kaby Lake but up to 3xxx (O.C.)

I'm not sure what this means in practice? Does that mean if I bought a set of ram at 2666 I'd have to manually change some settings/overlclock? Reason I'm asking is I want to get a set of Corsair Vengeance with the RGB LEDs but the lowest speed OCUK stock these at is 2666.

Just simply enable XMP in the Bios on either of these boards and they will work fine. That is the only setting up you have to do.
