Dear all,

Happy new year!

I have a limited budget (£50-£100) to upgrade my current rig with new RAM - my setup is:

Processor AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor, 3400 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
BaseBoard Product PRIME X370-PRO
GFX: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

I currently have 2 sticks of RAM that are fairly dated (from Speccy):

Type Unknown
Size 16384 MBytes
Channels # Dual
DRAM Frequency 1064.1 MHz

I'm just looking to improve my current gaming performance - nothing radical, but something noticeable enough to warrant to new RAM. Do you have any recommendations and lastly would it be compatible with my other hardware?

Thanks so much!

Hi Micky - appreciate the prompt reply! Here's an output from CPU-Z, does this help? (I'd not even thought about changing the setting in the BIOS to allow it to run faster)

Thanks all - Micky, really appreciate the feedback. Will give it a go with the BIOS settings being changed and will definitely consider an upgrade on the CPU. Can't believe I've been running at a slower speed all these years!

Hi Micky - I've changed the setting in the BIOS, pretty sure it's all saved to run at 2400 mhz now, it was on auto before - is there anything I can do to check it's definitely been set as such? Cheers!
