RAM Upgrade 8->16GB

Hi all,

I have this:

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz

..at the moment, and am looking to buy an identical kit to take me up to 16GB RAM (need to run a large virtual environment).

Is there anything I should know before doing this or will it be pretty seamless? No need to adjust any timings or anything?

it should be fine,you can use between 1.5-1.575v for dram voltage,you might need alittle more with 16gb idk untill you test it

Hi guys, if i may cut in on this for a second. Im due to take ownership of my first Server in a few days which only comes with 2gb Ram and im also looking to max it out with 16gb for future virtual projects. Could you explain the whole timing issue for me and where this would need to be amended.

Any information would be much appreciated as its all new to me so far.

@Pianobasher. What Ram have you decided to go with out of curiosity?

would you expect much performance boost from 8-16? i currently have 8 too

I'm running Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 16gb on two different pc's, one will run memory at 1.5v, but the other pc need a tad more volts to run stable.

OrionTC: As to performance boost, I think those are the wrong words, I find my pc's are more responsive with the extra memory.
A lot is down to how the application say photoshop uses the memory available.
