I am thinking about upgrading the amount of Ram I currently have and looking for best advice.
I have just purcahsed a Vega 56 and this is paired with 8gb of ram and an i5 2500k going at 4.4ghz.
I am trying to get a little more life into the machine without the need to upgrade and looking at memory..

I have 8gb
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K28GX)

I have these in slots 1 and 3. Currently slot 4 is very tight as I have a Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler on my i5 2500k so unsure if I can use those slots or not.

My questions are;
1. Would 2x8gb Kingstone HyperX or Corsair Vengence Low Profile be a decent upgrade. So 8gb v 16gb?
2. Will there be a drop going from 8gb C9 to 16gb C10?
3. If I got Low Profile memory and it fitted in the slot near my cooler. Would the following be better than 2x8gb. Slot 1 4gb HyperX, Slot 2 8gb New, Slot 3 4gb HyperX then if it fits Slot 4 8gb New
So asking if rather than sell the other 8gb, would using it make sense to have a total of 24gb of mixed ram?

Thanks in advance

no reason why not to run both kits.

Dont buy expensive ram, ddr3 is dead DDR5 will be out soon.

you would need to put the slower ram in slots A1 B1, the faster ram is A2 B2, the system will then run all the ram at the slower speed. if you do it the other way you will run into problems
