Ratchet&Clank: Tools of Destruction help (SPOILERS)

I never checked the Extras screen so that could be it, I can see the Holo-plan pieces in the Gadgets screen but not which part is which, in other words I can't see on what planets I still need to find a Holo-plan piece

SPOILERS!!!
Ok after you defeat the pirate boss you get a treasure locator, now on the galay map not only will it list how many gold bolts you have got on that planet and now it has a picture of a piece of the holoplan. The last piece you only get on the last planet, so i would go back and check each planet and see if you have the holoplan.

I remember at some point, getting a gadget later on, on a planet, which showed me exactly where the big bolts were on each planet.

After using this, when wanting to go back to planets and get bolts I'd missed, I notice then on the planet selection screen, it shows how many bolts I've collected out of how may are available on each planet, and also, if I've collected the Holo-Plan, or not. (or indeed, if there is one at that particular planet)

It's possible it always showed you on the planet select screen, if you'd collected the holoplan or not, I never noticed, I only noticed it, after I'd got the thing that showed you where the bolts are.

HTH  ;)

Ah, I have just touched down on the Kreeli Comet so I have to wait a bit longer I guess, thanks for the info.

Skill Points are indeed untre the Extra's menu option but it doesn't tell me what I need to do to get the Skill Points, only those I already finished, that should be the other way around  :p

Anyway I'll see how many I get with normal play and resist reading a FAQ a bit longer to not spoil the game.

That was exactly my thought!!! I just end up randomly unlocking them. Don't go the FAQ route yet. When you play the game through second time (with better weapons, harder enemies etc) you will end up getting some without realising. I know you get one for instance for turning people into penguins then making them "groove". Also on the space ship flying levels shooting the floaty triangular object s(every one available) usually gets you some award as well.

Theres quite a few i got just by playing with the groovitron! Think last time i looked I had 430 odd Skill points, you get some for getting all equipment and weapons as well.

I heard about playing the game again with harder enemies but you also get better weapons even shen they are fully upgraded and v5

Are there any specific weapons I should use to maximize the amount of bolts and raritarium?

I ask because I noticed that some weapons don't give any raritarium drops or are the drops random?

Certain weapons when you upgrade have more Raritum icons and some have more ammo slots etc. I recall the flamethrower weapon is a good balance off the top of my head. Will maybe fire it up and check later.

I was annoyed that I had wasted loads of bolts on crappy weapons, but having said that, second run through the game you can get multipliers if you kill people without being hit, so the number of bolts etc is really not an issue if you play the Arena modes for a say 30 minutes.

But I think that there are also weapons that don't give any raritarium drops at all, I have been using the Nano Swarmers last night to get it to v3 or higher and I did not get any raritarium from killed enemies.

I have bought every weapon/armour so far and still have 450k in bolts left but I am only on the comet level with a few more weapons to go.

Yeah, if you go to the weapon screen for it you will see that it has no raritum upgrades in it. Annoyingly you don't know what the next upgrade is, till you buy the adjacent one to be honest.

nano swarmers were a waste of bolts for me as were . The main thing is seeing what the overall damage is. I think about 5 of the weapons have over 1000 damage which are the useful ones. I will list the crappy ones (imo) when I fire up this bad boy this evening.

Hehe, funny that.
For me, my most used weapon was the Nano Swarmers!

Get a "tough bit" lob some of those about, leg it, and they'd kill everything in the vacinity. I can't remember 100%, but I'm sure I got a fair bit of Raratarium out of it too.

V1N.

EDIT: and I didn't use that whip thing for ages after I got it... but found it to be quite useful by the end, and got a lot of raratarium from that too, I think ;) Not loaded it for a while, and can't remember exactly.

EDIT2: Obviously we played it slightly differently though. when I got to the end, I had all the gadgets, and I think all the weapons... There were three "pages" of slots for weapons, and they were all full, and I had more besides which wouldn't fit in there, and I can't remember how many bolts I had at the end, but somewhere between 500,000 and 1,000,000 I think

I find Nano-Swarmers to have their uses, when I was doing some Arena fights I usually drop a Nano swarmer, switch to a different weapon and kill anything the smarmers don't kill.

So if I want raritarium I have to use a weapon that drops raritarium, that is a bit annoying if there are no good weapons but I will have to check that.

As V1N said the electro whip fully upgraded i found was the best weapon for raritarium, you get it even off the little service bots in the first "monkey ball " level. I used the Whip, nano swarmers, the rocket launcher thing and the multi lock on missle thing (cant remember any names lol). I found though i used all the weapons and maxed em all to 5. That is until I got the RYNO then the super duper RYNO-4-EVA maxed to level 10 lol then i used that lol. Now i have all the Super versions maxed to 10 apart from the blades launcher thing (as its poo lol).

 You must have played the game a lot :D

I have the electro ship fully upgraded so I will remember to use that if I need raritarium.
