I'm sure loads of you have already seen this but there's thousands of people who're planning to purchase "Killing in the name of" by RATM after the 13th of December in a desperate attempt to stop whatever dross scrapes their way through the X Factor final becoming the Christmas no. 1.

I'm curious though, do our charts base their figures on download numbers now?

It would be funny to see this happen. Surely if it did, they would still pretend X Factor got the number one anyway?

Would be cool to see a dreadful song by a dreadful band number 1 at christmas.

I would love to believe that we can all pull this off but it won't happen - I dont mean to be Mr negative but do you remember what happened when "Stan" by Eminem made it to christmas no.1 years ago? They just simply announced that the number 2 in the charts was actually number 1! (which happened to be some trashy pop group)

I really hope Im wrong tho and this does pull through, I'd love to hear the end of that song blasting (or being cut out) on the radio!

Oh and by the way the charts are decided by downloads now I believe aswell as record sales. I heard somewhere that if a track gets 500,000 downloads its pretty much a number one

I want to know how narrow the margin was last year when there was the Buckley/Burke Hallelujah fight, but I can't find proper numbers. I reckon they stand a better chance this year, as there should be more momentum.
