Thats what i am saying to get sata 3 working i guess its a new motherboard/ sata controller so if so not such a cheap upgrade.
 
it's 3Gb/s but SATA uses 8b/10b encoding, so your
3Gb/s = 375MB/s
375MB/s * 8b/10b = 300MB/s actual max data transfer rate.
 
Wow, twice as fast as other drives.
Thats one of the cool things about SSDs IMO, unlike harddrives which have basically been the same tech for a long time and have just seen evolutionary changes in recent years, SSDs are new and things are changing quickly, new technologies are coming along and introducing step changes.

I wouldnt be surprised if we see drives in a years time that are significantly larger, faster and cheaper than those you can buy today.
