Reading Festival 2007

not enough people seen digitalism :(

the guy who did wins for saying they where his favorite though :)

few of my mates said they where great as always. definetly need more recognition
I wanted to! Something else was on though :( Big fan of digitalism.

Oh, and I thought Brand New were amazing also. Hadn't heard them before.

Just bought pre-sale tickets for Reading 2008. Should be a bit different to Leeds to say the least. Hope it's worth the long journey there and back.

Just checking out the vids from youtube, I can't get over how amazing NIN were. Totally agree with the comments about Hurt, i'd have probably came close to tears if i wasn't so fueled full of booze.

I used to think reading was better than leeds, been to both several times. But after the crowd this year, I would stick to leeds if your closer. The crowd where crap and the bands new it and so didn't try.

To the guys who went to Reading and saw Funeral for a Friend...what were they wearing?

EDIT: No matter just found out. They wore normal clothes at Reading and worse "Nevermind mind Reading we're at Leeds" t-shirts

Such a good Reading this year. I had a top time.

The highlights for me were:
Battles
Jimmy Eat World (the lockup stage set)
Mutemath
Youthmovies
Simon Amstell
Interpol
Maximo Park
Gallows
...and very surprisingly to me, I had an amazing time at the Klaxons set. We were partying hard.

Gutted I missed:
Seasick Steve
Dinosaur Jr.
The Bronx
Biffy Clyro

So many people told me Reading was better than Leeds and to be honest i cant think of one reason why. Apart from a more famous name i really cant see that Reading offers anything other than slightly less chance of trouble. The arena layout is awful and makes getting from tent to tent a bloody nightmare at times.
Both sites are roughly 120 miles from me and I'll definately be going back to Leeds next year.

The reading site is a lot better laid out, as is the car parks and exits. That's the main good point of reading. They've also sorted the que problem out with the boats from white car park know.

Yeah. However, we still had a 3hr wait for the white/orange park boats just to cross the river.

On the way back at 2am there was no queue though - they also had It's Tricky playing followed by beegees. Had a boat singalong/danceathon :D

Just skipped through the DVD recordings of all BBC3's reading coverage. Fairly dissapointed - didn't see anything by Digitalism, Interpol, Gallows or Maps..

The bottling at fall out boy was amazing

There were lots of pits and circles at leeds, the lostprophets circle was amazing to be in. Can't wait for all the youtube and official videos to watch.

Anybody waiting to leave Leeds listening to radio 1 when they told everybody to beep their horns? That was very funny.

Another fine weekend... Highlight for me was NIN, I saw them last week in Edinburgh and they were mince so I think my low expectations helped :D Biffy were fantastic, but at the end of the day it was just another fantastic Biffy set, so not as memorable. Best decision of the weekend, binning RHCP and going and catching UNKLE instead.

Bit more ******** in the campsite on the last night than I'm used to- not fun stuff, the total cowardly hit-and-runs like egg throwing, jumping people with water, chucking petrol or lighter fluid on fires, gas cans, things like that. We caught us an egg thrower, he won't do that again... But still, it settled down quite fast, presumably all the bampots either burned themselves out or got themselves in bother. Chilled out very nicely in Purple, maybe our drummers drove everyone off with pure volume :) Very young crowd too, which is another way of saying I'm getting old.

Right, bands I liked were:

Little Man Tate
Maximo Park
Kings of Leon (only saw 1 or 2 tracks though)
Eagles of Death Metal
Bloc Party
HelloGoodbye (I hate the single, never heard any of their other stuff and it wasn't bad)
Fall out boy
Lostprophets
Aiden were ok, never heard of them though
The Enemy
The Subways (think possibly my fave act of the weekend)
Pigeon Detectives
We Are Scientists (another fave)
LCD Soundsystem
Klaxons
Ripchord
Turbo Fruit
Reverend and the Makers (wish I'd seen all their set rather than go and see Maximo Park)
Director
Silversun Pickups (very good)
Hot Hot Heat
I was a cub scout
Kharma 45
Seasick Steve

lol just reading about the band called Hooks for Hands who played early one afternoon at Leeds in the Carling tent ;)

That was one of my favourite conversations of the weekend...

"I've heard the Foo Fighters are playing a secret acoustic show on the carling stage"
"Yeah, it was on friday, didn't you know? They played as Pete and the Pirates. It was great!"

Complete lie of course, but seemingly not a bad one :)

Is anyone else suffering from Phantom Wristband?

Yea that was soooo bloody annoying when we all found out about that. The people that were there to see them play were bloody lucky.

Set off for Leeds at 615am on Thursday, us being idiots went out on Wednesday night in Manchester until 330am :o

Was set up by 10am though and then the fun started. Such an amazing weekend. Met so many great people and am definately going back next year

The "trouble" is a load of *******s really. Didn't see one fight all weekend. Yes the last night had a few canisters going up and people pushing each other in to tents and such but so what. You don't expect to sleep at these things :p

Think I had about 2-3hours kips each night with none on the Sunday night :p

Durracell tent was awesome too
