Hey, friend of mine has £400 to spend on a PC, wants to play fallout 3 and borderlands at a decent framerate on it, and isn't the overclocking type. No monitor/keyboard/mouse needed just the main base unit.

I've been looking at what AMD has to offer, do AM3 socket CPUs (like that new x4 620) work with the AM2+ boards? Also, can anyone do a spec up for me?

Very good build I was thinking of this but with this video card insted:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-130-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1576

It's mainly for The Sims 3.

Id go for this :

Or for £408 plus delivery you could get yourself the same spec but with a 5770 instead of the GTS250 ;)

RJCs build is much better, better cpu, better gfx and offers an upgrade path.
Intel socket 775 is End of Line so no upgrade path, only dual core cpu and 250 not quite as good as 4850

I see no point buying a motherboard with extra features such as on board graphics, in reality you are getting a lesser spec elsewhere on such a purchase.

I am also under the impression the Phenom II Black 550 is the better choice for gaming, this is the only forum where I have seen the 630 recommended? Is there any reviews showing it as the better choice?
