Hi,

I need some new rear brakes for my 05 Ford Focus. The car uses brake shoes and drums.

What do I need to buy? IIRC I only need the brake shoes?

Drums at the rear.

The car uses brake shoes and drums.
:P

Edit: In fact that wasn't overly clear. :D

Edit2: I've heard mention of spring kits to go with the new shoes. I would imagine a 5 year old car shouldn't need these?

I guess it is a mk2 Focus with a small engine (1.4-1.8)? If so you just need these.

Edit - Yes you won't need springs, or you shouldn't do, my old Dolomite didn't need new springs and that was 28 years old at the time!

Thanks. It is a 2.0. Not sure what mk it is over here though. :S.

Whilst you have it apart you might as well change the brake cylinders, can't imagine them costing a great deal.

Cool, I'll see if I can get those too.

You should only need the shoes, spring kits are normally cheap anyway. They we're only about £4.50 for my golf. You will also need to take the lip off the Drum that has formed otherwise it will cause problems getting the drum off next time, again I had this with my Golf and it was the reason I needed a spring kit as one broke getting the drum off.

Awesome thanks. My father in law has offered to put them on for me, he's very good with cars. I'm going to hopefully learn a little too. :).
