im just unsure weather or not to go with FS or BS really,, budget of £150

as far as FS go ive been looking at

Tannoy F3's or Wharfedale XARUS5000

and BS maybe Tannoy Mercury or Wharfedale 9.1

Currently have in my set up

Pioneer vsx918
BK Gemini 2
Wharfedale 10.CS
Tannoy Custom f4's

There's very little point in having floor stander (FS) rear speakers IMO; especially big but cheap floor standers as they are a major design/cost compromise. All that cabinet and not much budget to brace it properly to control bass resonances.

Go for a decent proper pair of BS rear surround speakers - ideally dipole / bipole switchable so if you do go 7.1 in the future that you can alter the way they work.

Monitor Audio BRFX - they're close to your budget, they are switchable, and they work brilliantly.

I would go bookshelf and something like the F1 which should be pretty cheap as they are an out of date model. Rear speakers really arnt all that important anyway but the F1 are a great speaker.

I use the F1 as my rear along with my tannoy fusion 4 fronts and centre and TS12 sub and it sounds awesome.

Floorstanders are useless as they are not high enough, rear speakers should be mounted about 6 foot high and work best when mounted beside you and not behind you in a 5.1 setup.
