Reccomend me an alcoholic drink for tonight

Scorpion.

Measure/s of vodka, gin, whiskey, rum, brandy, tequila and sambuca. Light it with a match, and immediately put the palm of your hand over it, then shake it around with your fingers stretched out (where do you think the name comes from?). Pull your hand off, breathe in the fumes, and then down it.

Grey Goose Vodka...although I think you can only find it at the duty free. tesco might have it.

I got a litre bottle for £30 and it as smooth as milk not like that turps stuff from shop

Not over a tenner? I agree it's a nice vodka but not quite fitting the criteria here.

I thought the name would come because it tastes rancid and/or has a sting in the tail but maybe I'm wrong on that. Unless you've got all or most of those spirits already you're not going to do that under a tenner either though.

A supermarket gin and tonic + slices of lime (lemon if you prefer) might be about the cheapest/best to get an acceptable mix for the price.

Ice in whisky? Pfft.

If you're adulterating it with ginger wine then I think it's already beyond the bounds of normal practice about how to consume whisky.

However yes, if it's a decent single malt (or blend) then the conventional advice is to add a little water if desired to bring out the flavour - never ice though as it numbs the taste. I've subscribed to that view previously but ultimately if you're drinking for enjoyment then you should drink it in whatever way you prefer, I may mourn the abuse of good whisky but that's another matter entirely.

I chose to ignore the ginger wine bit otherwise my head may have exploded.

I like Erdinger and Tucher.

What Weissbier would you suggest...I'm always on the lookout to try new drinks...

Weihenstephaner Weiss is great, you could probably get it in Waitrose.

When I lived in Highgate there was a great shop down the road which did amazing beers. I can only remember them by label rather than name though. I took some photos which are in the now drinking thread, but that thread has become too much of a behemoth for me to scan now.

I'll look out for it. Cheers.

Boston Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
juice of 1/2 lemons
1 tsp sugar
1 egg white
1 slice lemon

Shake juice of lemon, powdered sugar, blended whiskey, and egg white with cracked ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass (any glass will do). Add the slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

Don't be afraid of the egg white, it's a delicious drink and you can make it as sour as you want. Great way to use up cheap horrible whisky.
