Hi everyone.

Iv'e reciently been getting really into chillout electronica. (i guess thats what you could call it). I have no real knowledge of this genre, as 98% of me cd collection consists of rock/metal/death metal/black metal etc....

I was lately recomended Vespertine by Bjork, i bought it, and i think its absolutely amazing. I'm also getting an album by Susumu Yokota delivered tomorrow. I love Team Sleep too.

Can anyone recommend me any other artists/bands that i might enjoy? (with or without vocals does'nt matter to me).

Cheers!

Bump, someone please help this poor guy out, don't let him return to that stuff he listened to previously.

I reckon Moby and Sigur Ros would both cover what you're looking for :)

good call,Gilly if we can just save one soul from the dark side

A second vote for Sigur Ros with added Royksopp, Lemon Jelly, Air
If the OP wants strong voice backed by electronica (and impress friends with obscureness) then he should track down ''Night Song'' by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Michael Brook

Both good suggestions above, though I would say that Sigur Ros generally feature little in the way of electronica on their main releases and are more a traditional live instruments act. Would be a good continuation of the sound of Verspertine however.

For ambient music, with clicky/glitchy beats, I recommend Murcof (Remembranza, Martes), Jan Jelinek (Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records), Boards of Canada (Music Has the Right to Children) and BT (This Binary Universe).

If you want to go much more ambient, Brian Eno (Music for Airports, On Land) is one of the standards, Biosphere (Shenzou, Substrata) and Global Communication (54:17 - I think!).

For, I guess, 'organic' stuff (with instruments), Múm (Finally We are No One, Summer Make Good) would go down a treat. Colleen (The Golden Morning Breaks) and Efterklang (Tripper, Springer).

For more 'mainstream' electronica, in the sense that it often features as beds on TV, trailers etc., Zero 7 and Air (the Virgin Suicides soundtrack is really excellent). M83 (Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts) are also in the same vein. Oh, and also Massive Attack.

Massive Attack
Röyksopp

edit: oh snap, I clearly spent too long on this post

Dammit, I meant Röyksopp and wrote Sigur Ros :(

I blame my colleague who was on their site at the time. At least its not too different.

William Orbit
Aria
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
Cafe Del Mar

I recommend "Deep And Chilled" Euphoria albulm to anyone who wants chilled out music.

Thanks a lot people, i will try and check out as much as i can!

I noticed i've already got lost horizons by Lemon Jelly, good album.

No one can save me from the dark side as far as metals concerned, but i keep my ears as open as possible! :D

Maybe you should close them completely ;)

How about some psychedelic/goa trance and ambient?

Shpongle, Hallucinogen, Entheogenic, The Infinity Project, Astral Projection, The Mystery Of The Yeti

How about some electronic/jazz/dnb/hip-hop fusion styles?

The Cinematic Orchestra, Jaga Jazzist, The Herbaliser, Amon Tobin .... (Check out the Ninja Tune Label)
