Recommend a 40-43 inch TV

A new thread, fresh search for a 40”-43” TV, budget is £450 maximum.

I managed to pick up a 40” H6400 a few weeks ago after searching for a long time, I thought I got the TV I wanted with all the features that meet my criteria, brand new for £300. Unfortunately the lip sync issue slipped under the radar and I was reminded of it from Freeview HD to iPlayer and YouTube.

This TV will be wall mounted in a bedroom, I will be using it primarily for Freeview HD, Smart TV (Amazon/Netflix), streaming MKV’s (1080p) via DLNA and occasionally connected to PC via HDMI.

What would you recommend I go for?

Sony is an option with their W75/W80 series, Android TV bugs though and people are still waiting for updates to iron out certain issues. Worth taking the risk?

Panasonic I’m aware do not manufacture their own TV panels, also their TVs do not support DTS which I will be needing when streaming MKV’s via DLNA. Probably avoid.

LG I think use something called IPS panels on their televisions so the viewing angles won’t be the best for a bedroom nor are the blacks be as good as other TV’s for the same price.

Samsung I hope have learnt by now, H6400 lip sync issues a one time mistake by Samsung? If I choose to go for another set it would most probably be a KU6000/KU6400, right?. Anyone know of these two sets have there been any issues reported?

I will be connecting the TV to my PC via HDMI, with the Samsung being 4K does that mean my Desktop will be working harder? As my PC is good, but not great. Also, will it successfully upscale any SD content to HD?

I got the Hisense H43M3000 for £299 from argos, I was bit weary of it being hisense, but they've totally changed my view.
Excellent TV, ok 4k some would say isnt worth it on a 43 but the overall picture on 4k & 1080p on amazon/netflix is great.

fast menu system, its only got bbc iplayer and netflix, but I use the amazon box anyway for the other players

freeview hd, good quality picture. I am impressed.

im now tempted to buy another for the sitting room.

Odd, I have a 32H6400 and 40H6400 in the flat, and neither have lip sync issues with the most recent firmware.

Have you checked your audio delay in the sound settings?

I've checked everything.

There was clearly a problem with the H6400 in relation to lip sync issues.

I can tell you even with my PC setup I'm experiencing lip sync issues.

For example, I have my PC connected to the TV via HDMI, then the PC is connected to an amplifier for sound (if I don't want to use the TV speakers, which in this case I am not). So I play a file using VLC Media Player, and move the VLC window onto my TV, switch on the amplifer for sound, and it's not in sync. Maybe the processing is delaying the video? I have changed this to 'Clear' and also 'Off' and there is no change.

It's a flawed TV unfortunately, I knew it was too good to be true just unlucky for me it went under the radar, 20 page thread on AV Forums, and various bits and bobs on here.

Even if I go to Audio, Additional Settings, Audio Delay and change it to 250 (max setting) it doesn't make a difference, I think this could be for external devices only, such as a Soundbar connected to the TV ect..

Just ordered one of these:

I haven't got it yet will be let you know how it is once I do

Thanks, I'm not sure why I haven't looked at the Sony WD75 series yet, it looks real good. Plus, I own a 50" W829 which I am very happy with.

As the TV will be going on the wall, just having a quick look at where the ports are located. I'd say apart from the WD75 series only having two HDMI ports (1 Side/1 Rear), it doesn't look that bad.

Both of these TV's haven't had any proper reviews that I can find online as yet.

I can see the Samsung UE40KU6400 for £450 online brand new and the Sony KDL-43WD756 for £430 also brand new.

Near enough the same price.

^^^ this. Have had no problems with lip synch with my 40H6400 either. It was apparently fixed in an update. Possibly i bought it with it already applied dno.

I've tried everything with mine, it's about 1 sec out but I'll never be satisfied since trying to deal with it for over a week, will just keep looking at the speech/mouths, TV's should come prepared auto sync'd. I doubt it was just a bad set either because there's all sorts online like I mentioned.

Maybe there are bad batches.

I know my 40" had the issue when I got it in September 2014, but that got sorted in an update a few months later.

Got the 32" in June 2015, and never had any issues with live tv, video from USB, streaming from my synology, or HDMI from my laptop.

Hooked up external speakers to the 40" over the weekend, and also no issue with syncing, be it through Sky HDMI, Mede8er HDMI or terrestrial broadcasts.

Unlucky man :(

I'm pretty happy with it!

Been using it all weekend. Links in with my PS4 & Sony Surround system so i can use the TV remote to control all three (one of the main reasons I wanted a Sony again)

Picture quality is great in HD and pretty decent with SD/Low quality streams considering the size!

Like you said the main down side is only 2 HDMI ports but this doesn't bother me as I have everything going through my Sony surround amp.

The Freeview HD (and it only affected built-in Freeview HD) audio sync issue on the H6400's was fixed ages ago... perhaps you're having other issues.

I bought one about six months ago and that had audio sync issues at first but after a while the problem just went away. Maybe they are sold with older firmware on them and the cure only comes once it's been updated.

Thinking about the samsung ku6400 or Panasonic dx600 anyone have any experience? Both similar prices

I bought the 6470 from Curry's on Saturday. £500 after all the niggly discounts. Comes with a smart remote, no lip sync issues I can see and fantastic picture quality.

Interesting, how did you get the discounts?

After viewings lots of sets I decided I didn't really need 4k and instead went for the k5600 for a bargain £349 (40"). Packed full of apps, set looks slick and HD looks great.
