Hi

I'm building up a pretty big AVI collection, and was wondering if there is any program to help me organise and play these that people can recomend. I use Foobar as my music player, so something like that but only with videos?

It's just that renaming every single file by hand and organizing them is becoming a bit of a drag. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Steve

As far as i am aware, there is no standard tagging system for video files as there is with music so it will be a case of renaming manually and organising them in folders. Do a few each day and it won't seem like such a chore. If you get into the habit of renaming them as soon as you acquire them, it will make life easier.

What are you wanting to organise, TV or films?

For TV, and I've never used either, something like Tv Rename or SCRU?

If you're obtaining scene releases (I.e. files in the format [show].s[season]e[episode]) you should be fine.

For a short while I used a program called Tagged Frog: http://lunarfrog.com/

It doesn't organize the physical locations of your files, but it lets you organize them using tags, much like you see on a lot of websites these days.

After a while you build up a bunch of tags and get your own tag cloud. All the tags are completely customizable and you can save "favourite" tags so you can jump to, say, all your Knitting World episodes :p

Only downside is it is all kept within the program, so not so great if you want to access your movies from another computer.
