Hi All,

I need to buy 10 colour Inkjet printers to roll-out in 10 classroom, to replace some ageing HP Inkjet 5100's.

They need to be robust because of many little hands bashing them :)

They need to be cost effective in terms of price per page.

All the printers will be set up as local printers via USB.

Please, Please, Please can you kind folks recommend me some machines?

Many thanks in advance. :)

If they are for a classroom, how will you be purchasing inks as schools etc normally need to buy from a set supplier? Maybe looking at the cost of inks first before choosing your printer would be the best option.

Do they have to be colour or just mono?

If just mono then one of the smaller HP laser range or perhaps even the Samsung ML-2240 (getting good reviews for the money). Replacement cartridges are ~£35 each with approximately 3000 pages per toner (just under 0.09p/page) and probably less on economy mode.

I'm probably going to get a 2240 even though I've just bought a Canon MX860 just purely for the speed/price side of things.

The Canon Pixma range is good if you wanted colour and there are some good traders on fleabay doing refillable cartriges at brilliant prices!

Thanks all :)

They do need to be colour, the printers are only lightly used. Robust printers would be great

The deal maker would be cheaper ink and more prints than the
Current HP 5100's. Any more help is appreciated.

What's your price per printer?
How often did those inks last (5100)?
How much did you get them for (5100)?
What type of print quality do you need?
What's the duty cycle?

I could throw some models your way if you give me a bit more info but you'll have to look what YOU can get the inks for. In your case the inks > printer.

I take it this is for kids to print their stuff off? I guess with the teacher having to leave the room a central printing solution isn't possible. That's a serious shame as you could have saves some money.

Buy yourself some cheep Epsons. Buy other makers inks from inkexpress. In fact, check out inkexpress (google it) Or inkraider. Both Good. Alex at inkexpress is very helpfull if you need help. ink is expencive on the other printers. Cheep ink is good for the use with children. Let us all know what you do.

If you go for the Canon ip3600 instead then you get separate colour inks and two separate blacks. Each cartridge is about £9.99 inc vat.

how about one one these :D
