Hi all,

I want to shrink my current i5 setup. I need a socket 1156 mitx motherboard with on board wireless and a pcie x16 slot. Can you recommend me a board that I can use.

Also, can you advise about power supplies. Is it possible to get external power supplies? I am planning a build that is going to be quite limited in internal space

Thanks all

Matt

you cant get 1366 itx boards, you can get 1156 and better than 1366 will be 1155 sandybridge.

what will be the overall spec of the system, depening on uses you can have a pico psu which are tiny, how small do you need the system though, most itx cases can fit a full atx psu inside no problemo.

Sorry, I meant 1156.

The case will be custom and as small as possible so it would be an advantage to have the psu outside. The psu will be powering 1 x hdd, 1 x DVD, a 5850 and the CPU/ ram etc

if your going to be using a 5850 id suggets an sg07 or similar, theyre about as small as your gonna get whilst keeping the system cool, and housing everything you need. there will be no point in a small system if you end up housing the psu outside the case, a pico psu wont cut the mustard with that set up im afraid.

i have an sg07, foxconn h67s, i5 2400, 5850 direct cu etc and i carry that whole system around in a morrisons bag for life(until i can find a suitable carry case).
