Hi guys,

Long story short, I've sorted out the new gaming pc i plan to order and know I need to find a good monitor, I was planning to get the Asus VH222H but a magazine i read didn't give it the best review. In other words I was wondering if you guys could recommend me a 22"monitor, budget wise I really wouldn't want to spend more than £200. Please tell me any suggestions.

Many thanks in advance.

P.S - pc specs will be: i7 920 , XFX 4890 1GB, Gigabyte EX58-UD3R, Corsair 6GB XMS3 12800C9 Ram, etc

I have just got a LG Flatron W2261V 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor [W2261V] and it looks stunning. Playing Modern Warfare 2 at 1920 x 1080 and it is flawless.

I was a bit unsure about buying it because the price is so good but that uncertainty has definately been put to rest now.

I would recommend the Samsung T220 but they don't have it on this site. The Samsung SM2233BW on the other hand is on this site and on sale. Check it out.

Cheers guys for all the suggestions, I had a look at the LG Flatron W2261V, looks like a really nice monitor. I also looked at Samsung T220, even though I had before
And yeah its a great monitor, but no built in speakers, meaning i'd have to but external ones, which isn't a problem, just a worry on keeping in my set budget. Does anyone know what the Samsung T220HD Monitor/TV is like just ifs that's good I could watch tv, use pc and a games console.

From what I'm hearing and seeing I'm thinking my options are basically:

1. LG Flatron W2261V
2. BenQ G220HD
3. Viewsonic VX2260wm
4. Samsung T220HD Monitor/Digital TV (assuming it actually good)
5. Samsung T220 (and would have to buy external speakers)

Anymore advice greatly appreciated, just I need to make up my mind very quickly.

Many Thanks in advance

The Scop

not had any experience with any of those monitors, but don't let built in speaker sway you they are a waste of time, the sound that comes out of them is just awful

there fine for watching the odd trailer on xbox but i wouldnt recommend playing games online with them , no way u will work out ware ppl are use headphones for that imo

If your quite serious about gaming, and are coming from using a CRT, i would say http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-075-VS&groupid=17&catid=949&subcat= is what you have to get. If your less serious and used to TFT's then you will be fine with a cheaper option

I've been using TFTs for several years, at home we have an HP w1907v for the family desktop (I'm 19 so yes living at home), the 1680x1050 resolution would be better suited to the 4890 but it's a little expensive, not sure. But you say if I'm used to TFT one of the other options would be fine?

Are you not considering gaming at full HD on say a 24" monitor. I'm looking at these two monitors just now.

Looked at both those, look good, problem is the space I have to put the monitor is only big enough for a 22" monitor, plus the bigger the screen the further i have to sit away.

Not many people know this but there two models of that LG monitor:

W2261V
and
W2261VP

The one with a P has a much higher contrast ratio (I've got one) and it looks jaw dropping.

I heard about that when I read a review, a bit cruel, to manufacture two monitors under the same model name at first, it may have been accidental I don't know

Have you considered the Dell 2209WA?

I realise it is a bit over your budget, but for the awesome quality you get - I think you may find it worth the extra.

My third friend at Uni got one this week (on my recommendation) and he is absolutely over the moon with it.

Is it good for gaming, I really don't understand the difference between all these monitors, the 120hz stuff I dont understand wither, I dont images coming off the screen at me, lol. Plus the card I'll have is an ATi and I've heard probs are going on with that, the Dell 2209wa isn't a 120hz monitor is it? The other monitor I was looking at was the LG W2261V which I know is 60hz, but this Dell, interesting.
