Now I'm really getting into photography again, with my new 400D I'm after a book or 2 to help me learn. I had a quick look in some book shops but most of the books I found were a bit too basic.

I'm after a good instructional book, similar in style to some of the Photography magazine 'how to' articles, which doesnt treat me like a complete idiot, spending 5 chapters on what to buy, what makes a digital slr, what does f-stop mean etc.

Any recommendations please?

Thanks in advance :)

Understanding Exposure - Bryan Peterson

Any of his books are worth a look, he has a gift for explaining things in an easy to understand manner without being condescending.

That's the one I started with. It's not a "how to" in the traditional sense, there isn't a set of instructions telling you how to take a particular shot but it gives clear examples of the effects of changing shutter speeds, apertures and focal lengths. His other book "Learning To See Creatively" is also a good book but I'd recommend waiting a bit before picking that one up.
