Recommend me a honeymoon destination

canada - montreal

brilliant city , plenty to do and see plus you can travel to places like quebec, toronto and niagara falls by car which does not take that long.

not sure about the hot weather there though!

Just about to book Maldives for next year myself for 12 days. It does look amazing place but definitely won't have the night time entertainment or waterparks that you are after.

£4k will get you something decent.

I went to the Maldives a couple years ago and although there are many many reasons to recommend going there, the best one for me was privacy.

Other than meal times, it almost felt like we had the entire island to ourselves. We could go swimming behind our water bungalow, walk along the beach or just walk along the paths and not see anyone. As it was our honeymoon, being able to spend so much time alone with each other in a such a beautiful place was just perfect.

Someone above mentioned the Maldives being a bit backwards and strict and that may be true in Male (the main island and capital), the resorts themselves are pretty much separate. Didn't feel restricted at all and in fact saw more than one woman bathing topless out in the open.

I went to the Maldives in late September/ early October for my honeymoon. Fantastically relaxing, with water sports when you want something more active. Weather was great but it's technically their rainy season. The week before it was apparently a bit grey.

My main regret was not going diving but did plenty of snorkelling, and saw more interesting underwater wildlife than in a week's diving in the red sea a couple of years later.

Hey guys,

I'm getting married exactly a year from today and it's been left to me to surprise the missus with our honeymoon.

The bed room

She doesn't want to know where we're going until we get to the airport!

She will be surprised alright

Requirements are:
- Must be sunny!
Get a sunbed.
- Have things to do apart from just sitting beside the pool/on the beach eg. things like waterparks and excursions.
Get a paddling pool
- Have good night time entertainment such as live music.
Do I really need to spell this one out
- Trying to keep budget of around £2,000 for the two of us.
Easy, plenty of change for beer ;).

Seriously though, I have always wanted to go and see the Maldives or Seychelles. Canada is fantastic especially if you like the outdoors but winter will be extremely cold. One of the Thai islands are great, Koh Samui is busy but not as busy as Phuket, Koh Phi Phi is pretty quiet. You'll have diving, normal beach stuff like wetbikes etc, you can stay in a normal hotel or a spa resort with a jacuzzi on the balcony or a beach front villa (depending on cost :p). Clear blue seas, beautiful sand just beware that around December time is peak season. Might get some good cheap flights though.

We went to Prague in September on our honeymoon. It was very warm and sunny, there was loads to see and do, and the food was excellent.

Probably cheaper than a more generic sunny beach location, too, and not too far away so you won't be jet lagged to buggery.

which month are you planning? this is important in tropical areas - monsoon, tourist season etc...

Bali or Thailand. Airfare will be the most expensive, however once there you can find nice hotels at good prices (don't hesitate to negotiate upgrades or price of a room - you would be surprised at discounts you can get - 50% off is pretty easy especially face to face), so very cheap once you are there.

Maldives is a good choice...but..it's a bit full of just married couples

If neither of you done the whole Florida thing, you should consider it before you have kids. There's loads to do, and if you are prepared to travel around a bit, it's even better. If you are careful with you cash you could get in a short 2/3 day cruise to bermuda/bahamas

As suggested above, a trip up the Nile sounds good as well

If its one yr from today, avoid all of the Caribbean islands and surrounding area's.. You are bang in the peak of hurricane Season.. If you get caught in one, it'll ruin your vacation. Power will be out for a couple of weeks. They'll be downed everything.

Besides weather is too hot and humid during summer.. Best off in California / Hawaii, if you want to cross the Atlantic..
