Basically my 55mm standard lens just isn't good enough , i saw some really nice clouds today with great texture and the sun made it look red underneath but i could not zoom in enough to get a good enough shot. I would also like better shots of landscapes like reculver on the cliffs.

I have a Canon Rebel XT EOS 350D

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS
Tamron AF 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2
SIGMA 18-200MM F3.5-6.3 DC
Canon EF100-300MM F4.5 USM

Basically i want more zoom , i was just giving an example... Another one would be i was on the beach the other week , saw some birds trying to get the shrimps from the ground. But i could not get a good enough zoom to show what they were doing. With my 55mm i had to walk close enough to get the shot but they flew off.

You're probably on a tighter budget, but if you want real quality, great IQ and a fixed aperture good for setting exposure then the 70-200mm F/4 L lens is stunning, can be had for £350 from HK.

Ah ok, I'd say the canon 70-300 IS then, not guit as good IQ wise but the extra 100mm will go a long way. :)

Well its between these three for my choices

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS
Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD macro 1:2
Canon EF100-300MM F4.5 USM

If your on a budget the sigma 70-300 APO is cnsidered th best in the field and can be had new for about 140 or about 90-100 second hand. Personally I'd save up and get the sigma 70-200 2.8 and a1.4x teleconverter but thats going to cost you a lot more money!

A1ex2001 when the seller says it fits canon , does that mean it fits all canon including my canon rebel XT 350D eos?
