So, my graphics card just had a funny turn in a dieing graphics card kind of way.

Current card is a 8800GTX with 768MB of RAM. (it was grandfathered in from my old PC)

PC is a 2.6 Ghz core i7 with 6GB of RAM @ 1.3 Ghz.

I want nVidia, need dual DVI outputs and I don't really want to spend more than £200, though can go to 3.

Any particular brand recommended?

The reason I really want nVidia rather than ATI is that City of Heroes is my main game and has always had issues with ATI cards.

I would strongly recommend waiting for the new Nvidia cards, chances are they will provide better driver stability than Ati. I am no nVidia fanboy as I upgrade my graphics card about every 9 months and in the past have alternated between the two, well I used to.

Less than 2 months ago I sold my 4870 and got myself a 275 which was something of a sideways move. This has resolved all the niggles I was having with various games. It is not always best to buy the most performance for your money. Buy whomever provides the most stable drivers. You get far more people complaining about Ati drivers than nVidia's.

I'd recommend the 5850 too, it'll trounce any nVidia card in the same price band and you'll be getting Dx11 packed in there.

I think the driver issues arise from the monthly releases, more drivers gives the possibility for more complaints. I've had one or two small issues but rolling back a month and waiting for the next month isn't a big issue. I also think that with the 5800 series, ATi will be very careful with their driver releases, any big flaws would only harm the reputation of the new line.

If you are adamant on nVidia then go for the 285, which begin at £200 for the OcUK edition and then from £230 onwards for various other manufacturers.

I'd go with the 5850, they are due either next week or the 15th October.
nvidia wise the 275 is £150 and a very good card for the money. And a 285 is due soon at £200 on the ocuk site.
