I'm looking to book a trip to Paris for my gf and I, and was looking for recommendations of hotels in/around the city centre for a short (3-4 nights) break?

Thanks in advance :)

(BTW I deliberately avoided the eyeglass/monocle/other spectacle related gag as they annoy me :p)

budget? im also going very soon with missus, found flights for £56 return each so blimmin bargain. also looking to stay in a small hotel for £23 a night iirc? noubt special, but near a metro link and does the job :)

Budget is negotiable. It's our first trip away together (everybody say aaaahhh) & I'd like it to be special so I can stretch to 3/4 star & would probably prefer a smaller hotel rather than a Holiday Inn et al. :)

I'd suggest staying in the Hilton as it's apparently quite roomy, but unfortunatley it's probably out of your budget. Not really that much appeal from the outside either.

Thanks for the suggestion. Don't think my pockets are quite THAT deep tho ;)

Then I would suggest that you perhaps suggest a price limit because i may be able to suggest some more relevant hotels. I go to Paris over 20 times a year.

Up to about £70 per room per night? Found a 3* Hotel (La Fleche d Or) via the Eurostar website (going via Eurostar so thought I'd see if there are any offers...

I stayed in the Hotel Ampére which was lovely. It was quite expensive but by far the best hotel i've ever been in. Couldn't think of anything bad to say about it. It's not exactly in the city centre but it's in a nice area and close to a metro station.

prepare to spend up if you want something nice, that's all i would say about paris.

3* in paris is like 2* in reality.

Gotta agree, your budget won't get you much in Paris unfortunately.

If you can stretch a bit further - approx £130 p/night - you can stay in a four-star hotel in Opéra (nice, classy area near Galleries Lafayette and fairly close to the Louvre)....

Stay well away from the Hotel de Ville. I didn't even get to my room before a huge bilingual brawl and a visit from the Gendarmes ended my stay there.

Yup, went on a uni trip and apparently stayed at a 3* hotel but it was crap. It was clean, but the food was crap, the bed was small and the room was tiny.

The few times I've done the Paris marathon we've always stayed at the Hotel Andrea, on the Rue de Rivoli. It's not expensive, the rooms are nice, and the breakfasts are good, or it's in such a good area you can eat out at tons of restaurants/cafés within minutes.
