Afternoon all.

I’m in need of a new wired router for my home network. Now I had a Netgear RP614, but ever since Blueyonder upgraded me to 10mb, it turned out to be a huge bottleneck limiting me to around 5mb.

So unless I’m overlooking something huge, then it looks like I need a new one along the same lines as the Netgear one, that can handle the speed. One with a NAT firewall would be nice.

I’m willing to spend a bit, but not silly money on some £300 Cisco thing.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Are you sure the router is at fault!?

It might be worth trying a couple of simultaneous downloads from say - ftp://ftp.blueyonder.co.uk/store2/blueyondergames/
to see what overall throughput you're getting.

I'm on BY 10Mb and get about 800-850 KB/s max.

Well like I said, unless I'm overlooking something silly I'm pretty sure it is.

I can reach 1.15MB/s without the router, but with it, it drops back to around 370KB/s.

Thanks Burble, I'll have a look at it.
