I've recently become aware that I don't know very much Led Zeppelin. I was never exposed to them I guess so I never got into them.

Where should I start? Ta :)

The 4CD 'Complete Collection' would be a good choice to start with. Failing that though, start with Led Zep IV. As soon as that first bar of 'Black Dog' comes through the speakers it's pure musical genius.

tbh 'four' is way different to the rest, a lot more mainstreem

some of the other stuff is average at best, unles you're high

It's always going to be down to preference but IMHO go for Physical Graffiti. Some of Led Zeppelin's best riffs are in there, for example Kashmir and the rover.

Achilles Last Stand on the album Presence is great too :D

1 & 2 are mostly blues based.
3 is mostly acoustic based (my fave)
4 is the most famous album
5 (Houses Of The Holy) was a disappointment for most Zep fans but I loved it
6 (Physical Graffiti) is very well rounded drawing from a lot of genres
7 (Presence) was a piece of poo
8 (In Through The Outdoor) took in a lot of genres
9 (Coda) is a collection of songs that didn't make the first four albums but its still very good.

The problem with Zeppelin is that if every Zep fan made a 'Best Of' it would be completely different

Agree with DM, III is my favourite , I'd go

III
II
I
IV
Physical Graffitti
House Of The Holy
Coda
Prescence
In Through The Out Door

Or just start with Remasters or The DVD.

I see that as a plus point, makes for good chat after a few beers..unless you aren't talking to a Zep fan, in which case you just sound like a total **** :D

I've only ever got round to listening to 1-5 for some reason. (Even though I do know Kashmir from 6)

2 is my favourite.
