Recommend me some male vocalists?

The singer from The Delays also has a nice voice. Valentine is a good tester.

Greg Gilbert. Sings like an angel (and yes I'm a fan and yet a straight male!)

I'd say their first album - Faded Seaside Glamour - is probably the least 'produced' album of theirs and serves as a good introduction. Their second album - You See Colours - sees them go a bit more up tempo and even disco(!). Their fourth album - Star Tiger Star Ariel - has some great tracks on it too...

Otherwise:
James Dean Bradfield - The Great Western
even if you're not a Manics fan this album is worth checking out. Granted it sounds a bit like them because it's the same guy singing(!) but this time he's taken on the lyric writing as well as the music side. The result is more light-hearted, more uplifting, less prone to broody, dark moments and clever-clever references than the Manics' stuff.

Martin Simpson - Prodigal Son
Saw him at a small indie festival in Oxfordshire a couple of years ago (Truck Festival). Great chilled out folk influenced acoustic stuff

Ezio - Black Boots on Latin Feet
Played this years' Cambridge Folk Festival and finally got round to buying this album (came out in 1995!). Quite chilled out but very clever meaningful lyrics and amazing acoustic guitar.
