Hi all,

Currently running a Q6600 on an Abit IP35-E @ 3.4GHz. Really happy with it (great board for clocking), but as the BFG 8800GT OC is on T.W.O. I thought I might give SLi a go.

So, could anyone recommend me a good board, please? Haven't read too much on the differences between the 750i and 780i chipsets. Onboard sata raid would be nice, but not essential, and 1394 again nice but not a deal breaker.

Budget, stability, and the ability to match my currect OC is the main concern, though budget can be flexible if a more expensive board is a country-mile better.

Thx in advance.

One more thought, spacing might be an issue. I have a BFG 8800GT OC with the HS-03-GT on it, and the Q6600 has T.T on. I'd like to put another HS-03-GT on the other board, but obviously the pace would have to be right (passive, so no need for fan room).

Thx

Well it's a fair call, but I figured another 8800GT and mobo would be around the £200-220 mark, and I could maybe reclaim £25-35 from my motherboard - so a £190ish upgrade. The realistic option would be the GX2 which is around £350, and would maybe get £70-80 for my 8800 - so a £280ish upgrade.

Not sure if either an 8800 or 9800 GTX would be a worthwhile upgrade. Could be wrong tho, and would appreciate any advice on this.

I dont think the 8800 GTX would give u massive gains over your GT. Sli seems like a hassle. If I was you I would hang in there for a proper next gen card and hope that something comes out that blows the current cards away.

Thanks. Am starting to think the same tbh. Don't want to burn money for the sake of it, but I'm running at 1920x1200 and the GTs in SLi seem to allow good AA/AF settings to be used. With the current £113 for the BFG GT card it's tempting (I paid £150ish for the same card just a few weeks back).

But if I *did* decide to go the SLi route, what would be the current board of choice? Budget and not-so-budget options would be nice.

Cheers

evga 750i F.T.W. edition for a budget 2x16 board with ddr2 (apparently getting good results with Q6600) or 790i if you've got deep pockets and don't mind being a guinea pig.
