Im new to DLSR.got a S/H Cannon 300d kit lens 18-55.£100.

Have ordered the 50mm 1.8 prime.I understand cus the 300d is a 1.6 crop the 50mm will act as a 85mm but thats ok.

Is it a good idea to get the 35mm F2 and 28mm 1.8 primes to cover most pics I would like to take.

Im not interested in big zoom lenses.

Any advice is very welcome.

thankyou

Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX Canon-ef
Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens (here site that got some photo taken with this lens http://www.pixel-peeper.com/lenses/?lens=19 also if you use the option on the site you find photo taken with the tokina 11-16mm plus many other lens)
Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di SP A/M 1:1 Macro Lens for Canon

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom AF Lens (aka the nifty two-fifty) {you did say you didn't want a big zoom lens but this a good one and it doesn't hurt to have one in your kit bag}

the Canon 50mm f/1.8 (aka nifty fifty) is a very good lens i've used it on the 550d & 600d camera's you will not be disappointed by it.

update here another lens "Sigma 10-20mm F/4-5.6"

My advice would be to pace yourself. I certainly wouldn't go out an get a 28 AND a 35 right away. Zooms might not interest you now but once you learn what you like to shoot you might find trying to juggle three primes drives you nuts.

thank you guys.i appreciate your advice.

I will take a look at all your suggestions re the lenses but also slow down first and play with the 50mm and the kit lens and get to know the kit.

been shooting quite a few photos today and its amazing how versatile the camera is and the clarity in the right circumstances.really enjoying this.
thanks again
