Me and the girlfriend to fly to New York over Easter 6 days and 5 nights at the Millennium Broadway . Anyone care to make any recommendations?

So we have the following that we both want to do;

Either a basketball game / Baseball game
Woodbury Common - Shopping Mall
A Broadway show -Subjected :(

Other than those can anyone recommend anything, would personally like a nice place to go for food one night, a real quality place.

Ticktets booth on Times Square for Broadway tickets. Will save you a lot.

Also check out Century 21 by ground zero. Huge store, cheap prices for branded stuff.

I would miss the queues and unfriendly staff at the Empire State building observation deck and go to the Top of the Rock instead.

I heard that you'd need a whole day for Woodbury common (travel times etc.) and it isn't worth it apparently. It's just what I heard though...

im  at that, looks and sounds amazing for bargins compared to UK prices.
no mention of a good quality resturant yet :(

i want to eat in Bubba Gumps

If you like Lebanese food then Al Bustan is defo worth a visit, it's about 50th and 3rd, if I visit NY I'll eat there at least once, probably more!

For probably the best ribs in NY Virgils in the theatre district, from the location you'd think it was a tourist trap, don't be fooled and this could be combined with a trip to broadway, it's not expensive or upmarket - do try the Voodoo black lager!

Other than that it really depends what you want to eat, there's even more choice than London, There's a great restaurant in the NY palace hotel - Malloney & Porcelli's I think it's called - one of the better places for a steak and it's very upmarket.

Given the choice of the Statue of Liberty Or Empire state building - do the latter at twilight.

South street seaport is close to Wall street and ground zero, it's a bit like covent garden but on the waterfront to one side of the Brooklyn bridge - there's good seafood to be had there.

Enjoy.

If you've got the money, a helicopter ride around Manhattan/Liberty Island is amazing. You can usually just turn up and go. Much better than queuing up all morning for the Statue of Liberty.

Imagine you will struggle for hoops tickets as the college regular season is over and pro's will be in the business end of the season. Yankees are out of town but the Mets are home to the Marlins whilst you are there so get stuck into that.

My wife went in Oct and said it was a wasted day. Unless you want something specific and costly then it's worth while but for general shopping it's not worth it.

Around easter the weather should be nice, have a nice day at Coney Island (will take ~45mins to get to from Manhattan, take the E or Q train, they go there), get some hotdogs, walk along the boardwalk... It's nice, trust me. :)

indeed...much bigger for a start so it never feels as crowded up there, plus you then get the added bonus of actually being able to get a good picture of the empire state! unobstructed view down the island with the empire state in the foreground and up the island it looks clear over central park

plus it has cool lifts!

food wise we enjoyed the oyster bar in grand central and got a good steak at shulas steak house at the Westin times square hotel

we did go to bubba gumps...a bucket of shrimp lets you graze for a good while! but if you want seafood Mcormick and Schmicks on avenue of the americas was really nice

Another thing i would really like to try is a NY Deli Sandwhich, are these things as good as they look. e.g. like a 4ft stack of meat between bread?

Top of the Rock 1st thing in the morning before the queues appear - fab on a clear day.

Then ESB late at night. Again, no queues and NYC is amazing at night from up there.

http://www.oysterbarny.com/ at Grand Central Station for a meal (assuming you like fish!)
