Hi,

Is there anyway of capturing stuff that your V+ box is playing back (previously recorded to the V+ box) onto your PC so that a copy resides on your hard drive?

Why? .....well obviously I want to make a few animated GIF's of some captures from a couple of programs. Thats all. ;)

Running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition on my home PC, I assume I need a capture card of some sort, but I'm not sure what one I need.

Cheers!

Unfortunately the V+ box does not output via s-video only HDMI, Component, RGB and composite (well mind does). Since most capture cards only do s-video/composite you will have to stick with composite (i.e. lowest quality) or get a sweetspot card £125+vat.

I would look for a full hardware mpeg2 encoding card (e.g. haupauge pvr 250) rather than a software based one.

bit on the same topic, sorry if its a thread stealer, but can you get from a sky+ box to your pc? transfer recorded things?
