I was looking for ways to record video and take pictures with the Quest 3, without having to create a boundary/guardian as meta don't like you using passthrough without one.

Workaround -
So, if you disable the guardian in dev options or QGO and then fire up a mixed reality game such as First Encounters, the game will not let you continue without setting up the guardian by scanning the room.
If you start the MR game with your finger covering the middle sensor window, it will try and scan the room and sometimes ask to rescan the room. Then the game stalls and just shows the passthrough.
Click on the meta Oculus button to check to see if the game is still running, don't click the continue or quit game options.
Open up the camera app and start recording or take a picure. Click on the meta Oculus button to clear the menus.
Or, click on the meta Oculus button to clear the menus and use hand controller buttons to record video or take pictures.

This is currently working for me on V69 PTC, and I've also got the Ocular Migraine app running in the background to give 4K stereoscopic SBS video and image capture.

Hey if u want I could make a very simple MR app that simply showed a passthrough image, is that along the lines of your idea?

Yes, I probably wasn't explaining myself very well. Might not even need the indicator to show its running. Folks would fork out for something that adds more funtionality to the headset. Maybe a splash screen to instruct users to block the middle sensor window if scanning s a headser requirement.

No surprise that the Quest 3 doesn't support viewing SBS stereoscopic videos correctly ( Virtual Desktop does ) or SBS images at all. The Pigasus app allows you to view the recorded SBS video and pictures without issue on the headset.
