Red Cross Door-to-Door callers

Fenris as someone who does this, if people aren't going to give money do you prefer if they tell you straight away or if they listen to you first?

I ask as I'm never going to donate after the call at the door, but I often feel it's polite to listen about the cause they are promoting, and you never know I may be interested at a later date.

Just wondering what is more important to you guys - getting through numbers for the money or spreading awareness?

So if you've worked for them, does it sound legit? Ie. the 2 month and 25 year old thing?

Honestly, I think after re-reading your OP it sounds like the project they are talking about is about right.

Currently in Bristol we are doing one which is signing up people from 25-75, it starts in April and is to do with mobility for the elderly and first aid training for school children.

It is strange that they didn't have a leaflet but they could have just run out.

@dekez - I prefer people are straight with me, generally I try not to go over the top with details as it's the Red Cross, people know what it does, if someone wants none of it then I'm happy to leave them be, if someone wants to know about the project then I'm happy to explain it but it's not like street based charity work, we don't try to waste time with people who aren't interested. It is entirely a number game, we try to talk to 100+ people a day each, it's better to talk to more people for a chance of getting someone who WILL sign, than try to persuade people.

I'm considering placing a Notice of Contract on my front door, it will read along the lines of:

Notice of Contract:

By UNSOLICITED wilful disturbance the occupiers of this Private Residence *Address* you agree to the Terms and Conditions below:

If you are uninvited, unexpected and unwanted and not an Agent or Representative of a recognised Delivery Service going about their Legal Business you do not have permission to disturb or deliver unsolicited merchandise at this address, if you do so disturb then a Legally Binding Contract shall be entered willingly and without prejudice by your disturbance whereby you agree to pay the Occupier the sum of £50 for every disturbance and/or unsolicited delivery.

I'll get it all done Legal and Proper looking, should be a source of good fun methinks.

Cheers, I won't feel so bad now if I tell them straight away :)
