need some inputs here guys :)

basically Im helping a guy to RMA an gfx (Im the original owner of the card). The store where we sent the card back decided to give me a refund instead of replacing it. Now here is the problem, there is a different between what he paid and original price (which being refunded to me) so is it fair to refund the buyer only what he paid or should I give him little extra as well? Of course I dont mind giving him extra but what I think is hes getting extra already by getting back the same amount that he paid a quite a long time before (seeing how the gfx's price going down recently, he would not get that amount by selling the card for example)

Anyway, let me know what you think is fair :)

cheers

yep, give him what he paid, he wont expect anymore in the same way that you expect the shop to refund you exactly what you paid.

why are you RMAing it? It was his fault for breaking the core.
Exactly!

If I bust something due to me stupidity overclocking or fitting a new HSF then its my loss. I'm sure one of the reasons computer hardware is dearer than perhaps it should be is people making fraudlent RMA claims.

He bust it, his own fault, end of, deal with it.

Exactly. He damaged the core but the retailer coughs up?

That's plainly dishonest.

I fixed my OP so hopefully this thread wont go "off topic" :) It could be something else that broken not because of fitting the WC. I wasnt expecting anything before RMAing it tbh, just trying to help the guy out. At this point, if there is anyone' fault then its the retailer for not checking properly ;) We wouldnt complain if they refused the RMA or anything, it just happen that they accepted it and decided to to the refund.

anyway, I would prefer inputs on the original question if possible

thank you :)

No. It is the person's fault who damaged the goods and then tries to make the retailer pay. I have to ask you is this coming back to us because if it is it will be rejected.
