Remember my NC29 CBR400 that the fairings ripped off after I'd rebuilt it?

It got used as a commuter during the winter with no side panels and I was contemplating selling it "as is" and hoping for the best. But after looking at how much these go for now (and that price is still going up the more rare they become) I decided to look for some new fairings. Usually you have to import them but luckily I found a guy who had imported them then never fitted them to his bike down in Reading, so I hopped in the car and picked them up. I'll try to document the fabrication process, but I normally find that I start taking photos and then get bored and just want to crack on with the job!

I'll be cleaning it up again after the horrible winter (painting rusty bolts etc) and then fitting the fairings, so it'll look lovely and shiney again once it's done :D

So today I got down to fitting some of the fairings. They did require some modification to get them to fit (and even then they're not perfect) but for the purpose of looking shiny and new from the distance that you normally stand from a bike to admire it, they look pretty nice. There's a few other bits that I've got to get before I can fit them all (like a touch up pen, some gloss white spray for the head and tail light surrounds and a few nuts and bolts to replace lost ones), but we got most of one side on today and the bike is starting to look pretty again!

Don't worry Frenchie, I wasn't looking to sell it on here!
They do go for inflated prices, but at 18 years old, I think it looks just as awesome as the modern sports bikes and as I've totally rebuilt this one - Racetech fork internals, custom made Ohlins rear shock and platform, braided hoses, dynajetted + race can, new clutch, carbon goodies and powdercoated lots of bits - I think they do warrant their current prices.

I absolutely love this bike, and part of me really doesn't want to sell it. But the other half is pining after a new CBR1000RR!

I <3 the <3 my bike gets on this forum - thanks all :)
