Removal company and furniture assembly

Hi all

Moving into a new property in a few months and am looking for what seems to be a rather bespoke service. The reason for looking for this in one company rather than two is because work is relocating me and footing the bill and where as they will pay for a removal company they won't pay for someone to assemble my new furniture.

So, I am looking for a removal company who will also build my flat pack furnituef for me! We decided not to move any furniture so it is all being bought new and will need assembly. Some companies offer a disassemble/reassemble service (seem to be few and far between) so I don't think this is outside the realms of possibility asni only require the reassemble part!

Any recommendations? Would need to be a company that covers national as the move is from Hemel to Wakefield. Thanks!

Did your company pay for someone to build your furniture in the first place?
It's not removals you're looking for, it's someone to build flat pack furniture - that's probably why you aren't finding anyone... It's like asking your taxi driver to plumb in a washing machine

Got nothing to add in terms of what you are looking for but I'd wager there isn't much doing that as normally it would be either a job for a specialised company that does the whole process or left to a handy man - which might not be too expensive if you can find someone with a good reputation.

I think the point is he wants one company to do it all, so he can then pass a single invoice to his employer as "Removal Costs".

OP - How much are you talking here? I'd probably just accept that the first weekend will be spent building furniture. Otherwise just ring round the companies you've already found who are willing to dissemble/assemble and get quotes

People either don't read too well or comprehend (except you Marvt74). If a removal company has a service where they will disassemble and then reassemble your furniture during a move then it isn't that big of a stretch to think that they will just assemble.

As for trying to scam my company, if it's part of the removal costs then no, it's not a scam :) if I wasn't being relocated then I wouldn't be moving and I wouldn't need to assemble furniture. This is what a relocation package covers, things that you wouldn't have had to fork out for if you weren't moving. There is 3 bedrooms worth of furniture to assemble. Sod doing that myself.

Thought I was in GD there for a minute.

Doesn't seem very usual though - having a look around my area there is only one company that even does a proper disassembly/reassembly process and they actually will do a reassembly only service but only cover parts of the South West.

I know the request was a little out there but that's why I turned to a forum, someone may have had some experience. Nevermind thank you all anyway. I'll press my employer and get them to agree a separate assembly service.

The first thing you should know about us is... we have people everywhere

removal firms have an expensive removal van resource they have to keep employed ... so using those guys would be inefficient.
Equally the house is full of boxes ... so building furniture would not be easy ... so the two services are not really compatible. ?

recomendation for a long distance removal firm - Abels

We are moving very little. All furniture is being purchased new. Boxes would not be an issue.
