Hi Guys

Due to me moving in with my mother I am going to need to find a garage to rent for the Monaro.

The main thing I worry about is the size of the garage.

The car is 4800mm long and 1850mm wide. Is there a standard size for UK garages?

I've read on here before of people renting a garage from the council? Also what kind of sites are best for this sort of thing?

"Traditionally a small British single garage is 8 by 16 feet (2.4 × 4.9 m), a medium is 9 by 18 feet (2.7 × 5.5 m), and a large single garage is 10 by 20 feet (3.0 × 6.1 m"

Measured mine a while back and mines a medium apparently!

I have two (!) 'council' garages and there is no way you would get your Monaro into one of those. I would get the mx-5 in there but I would have to put the roof down and climb over the boot to get out :p

I have a council garage and the when I had the RS4 it got in fine length wise and was a bit tight width wise. I think mine is bigger than average though...wouldn't like to try a monaro though :S

You need to be more concerned with the size of the garage door, length is easy to work out.

Most of our local authority's garages are 6'6".

My Clio is 1940mm wide according to parkers and fits through my 6'10" garage door just fine. I do find it hard to believe that the Clio is wider than your Monaro though!

Including/excluding mirrors difference I suspect. I would think that 1850mm wide for the Monaro excludes mirrors - might want to measure it yourself Princey (if you haven't already).

EDIT: A Google says nearer 1920mm for including mirrors.

Might be worth looking into a proper sized unit if you're planning any sort of maintenance/value being able to use the doors to get in and out of your car.
