basically im leaving school to get a job and my mum says i have to pay rent when i start earning. what did your parents charge you?

about 1/3rd of what you get would be nice to give yer mum for all them lovely dinners and doing the washing. Should still give you enough pocket money for sweeties.

i think ill probly be earnin about £150 a week with a crap job till an apprentiship is available.

my mum suggested i payed £50 a week. seemed a bit steep to me as after tax and national insurance and stuff i wouldnt be getting that much back

I was asked to pay out 50% of my take home, after I'd taken out expenses for travel and food at work.

I moved out when I got my first job.

My parents don't charge me any rent while im at home (non-term time). If I was working I would try to contribute some money (student), but I doubt they would take it. I guess it depends how much you can afford to part with.

I paid 15% of my income after tax. Wish I'd stayed at home longer instead of rushing into moving in with my girlfriend at the time.

When I started full time work I gave my mum £50 a week. After a few payrises and after I started working for myself, I gave her around £100 a week. I suppose it depends on what you earn but 25% of your take home pay per week is about right I'd say.

I pay £120 a month.

It aint that much to say i take home over £1200 but i do pay for the internet and often endup giving my little sister money to go out with on weekends which is something else my mum dosnt have to pay out.

plus she knows if she ever wants any more she only has to ask.

I left my parents house and got a flat before I got a job so I never had to pay rent to her. My brothers on the other hand, I think paid £120-£150 a month.
