Replacement for an 8800gtx

Hi

My 8800gtx has died and I'm just after a bit of advice on what to replace it with. I plan to replace my whole system in a few months so I'm not looking for an upgrade, just something that will perform as well as my current card. I don't want to spend to much, and as my system is over 3 years old I figure it's not worth it anyway as the rest of my system will bottle neck the performance.

Would a gts450 be the obvious replacement and should this perform as well, or is there something else I should be looking at?

I guess one idea would be to just go ahead and get whatever card I will use in my new system, but I want to be able to pass my old one on when I replace it so need to replace the old card anyway.

Any advice gratefully received.

Also, am I okay using a PCIe 2.0 card in my old P35 mobo?

If you plan to replace your system in a few months would you not be better off getting a graphics card thats not going to bottle neck your new system??

Sorry, I wasn't to clear on this. The card I buy now will not go into my new system. I had considered getting whatever card I plan to get for the new system and just temporarily installing it in my current machine, but when I build my new system I want to be able to pass my old one on to a family member.

I guess I may have been better off not mentioning the new system.
