I need to replace my card. The memory has to be underclocked by about 20mhz or I get artifacting all over the screen on the desktop or in games.

However, all the new cards seem to be too big for my motherboard as it would interfere with the SATA ports on the edge of the board which I need to use as the other SATA ports are useless due to my overclock which makes them unstable.

Any suggestions? Card can't be any longer than 9 inches maximum (including any fan)

Not looking to spend more than around £120 new or less than £100 s/h.

A 7600GT would give you almost exactly the same performance for ~£80 and it should be reasonably sized but I don't know exactly. Alternatively an X1950pro would offer a performance jump but again I'm not sure on the size, it shouldn't be all that big however.

//edit, how about getting right-angled connector SATA cables? That might give you enough extra space to fit longer cards. :)

Yea been thinking about getting some of them, only problem is one of my cables is superglued (long story) to my hard drive :P

I have been looking at the X1950 Pro's, what are they like compared to my card?

Also, I have looked at the dimensions online for them and it seems they are shorter than my card atm : / (min does have an arctic cooler on it mind which overhangs about and inch and a bit over the PCB.

If you've superglued the cables then there isn't much I can do to help. :D

The X1950pro is considerably faster than the X850XTPE, as a rough guide you might expect to get somewhere over 5,000 on 3Dmark06 if that helps for a comparison. :)

7600 GT is shorter than the x1950pro i think, the x1950pro is 9.5 inches long and so will probably intefere. :)

EDIT: Its a lot shorter, the dimensions for the 7600 GT are only 7.5" x 5" x 0.75" .

Pic here of the 7600 GT next to an x1800, which is the same length as the x1950pro's. :)

Nah, I deffo can't afford a 8800. Nor do I need the performance tbh. My system is going to be upgraded much and I don't play as much games as I used to do.

Also guys I would like to stick with ATi if possible (just a slight personal preference and bad experiances with past nvidia cards.) I'm probably going to go for a X1950Pro and just hope i get away with the size issues.

And yea PCI-E ;)
