My camera has died and I need a replacement under the £200 mark.
Want something with good zoom for taking pictures of the kids, framing them etc. Which would be the better buy between the TZ5 & the Canon (I see there is a £30 rebate on this before 31 DEc). Thanks.

Thanks rG - have you actually hands on experience with both? The video mode on the Panny seems to be superior which would be a nice bonus, but once I spec some extras (case, bigger mem card), I am very close to my price limit.
BTW what size of card should I be looking at in a bundle? Would 4gigs be adequate for everyday use?
Also, is it possible to do that depth of field effect with the Panny (i think it has less manual controls if I remember the review correctly).
Thanks

spiki i'm the manager of a camera shop so ive got plenty of experience of pretty much most cameras :)

4gb will be enough but i'd focus on getting a decent card, with a bit of speed. Also remember the tz5 has hi def video as well which can eat upt he space quickly. Get something along the lines of a SanDisk ultra 2 8gb as they're not much more than the 4gb.

Tom.

Ok Tom, that's sound advice, thank you
Just have to shop around now for the best price
Are there any other makes/models you would recommend in that price range or is the TZ5 the current market leader?
