We have a basic manual room stat in hall - turn knob for up or down -It is a Honeywell with two wire feed.

Honeywell do a basic two wire battery powered one with digital display and up and down buttons for temp control (ideal for wife as she keeps turning heat up instead of down as she can't remember which way is which);

The Honeywell replacement is DT90E at a grand ridiculous price of £36 for a on/off switch.
For that price would I find any benefit ? The only good thing with one we have is if heat is on too high you can turn stat down till you hear click and know it's off or on by whichever way you turned it. With the new one I guess it won't show or click any sign it's turned boiler on or off.

Thanks

Daamn it -I re read half a dozen times and missed title - Replacing !!!

That will tell you the current room temperature, and when you press the arrows it will display the desired temperature, so no click required. It should also have a heat symbol displayed when it's calling for heat

I think that will be a nice improvement.

Did you buy this stat and if so, did you fit it yourself? Looking to replace my very old dial one with this one.

If it's a modern controller it's probably faster to react to changes in temperature than the old dial type and easier to set at the correct temp.
Our old dial thermostat was pretty terrible at both when it kicked in/out and how fast it reacted (it seemed to need a variation from the desired temp of about 2-3c before it would change state).

we have one of those .. I need to remove it from the hall wall and put it, unattached in the living room, where we care about heat;
they can be temperamental about using alkaline batteries, rechargeable ones don't have the voltage 1.2 vs 1.5v for the relay to work reliably.
