I have a Toshiba Equium L20-197 laptop for which I have been asked to replace the keyboard.

I'm trying to find a guide on the Internet of how to disassemble this laptop but so far I've been unable to find one - anyone got any ideas as to how to replace the keyboard on these?

I'm also working on an old Advent 7445 at the mo - but thats a different story ;)

Don't think you will have much luck replacing the keyboard without replacing the whole laptop, your best bet might be to get a USB keyboard.

I've replaced keyboards on loads of laptops, including my own Advent 7082. Paid £50 for the laptop, bought a keyboard off the bay for £25... not bad me thinks.

Most common design is to have a piece of plastic just in front of the screen hinges. This should lift away to reveal some screws. Undo the screws and the keyboard should just come out. Be careful when lifting the keyboard as it's held in by a short ribbon cable. Flick the edges of the ribbon cable connector up and it should come away very easily.

If you get stuck, I'll take some pictures of mine but from previous experience of the Equium range, they're similar to my description above.

Thanks AGW_01 - I lifted the bit of plastic away below the hinges & eventually managed to pull the keyboard off the laptop surface...

It had been booked in after someone spilt fanta all over the keyboard - therefore it was extremely sticky & stuck to the laptop in more places than enough! Got a new keyboard ordered.

I've replaced keyboards on Dell Inspirons - getting this keyboard out was a bit of a challenge though!
