Replacing run flats with 'normal' tyres, Mini Cooper. Is it OK?

Never used the stuff before and the boots for the E91 need changing, so if this is a better route to go down then I think I might do it instead of keeping with run flats.

Once you have applied tyre weld, is that it for the tyre? If it turns out to be nail and you use the weld, I guess you then have to get a new tyre and can't have the nail removed and plugged?

I had this on one of my run flats. Turned out I had a screw in the tyre which the tyre shop took out and plugged.

That 'spare wheel must be legal' story has been going about since the early 90s at least, was it an MOT requirement at one point or a really long lasting urban myth?

Thing is, what is the point have an illegal spare wheel? So if you ahve a puncture you fit it and then your car becomes illegal? Never seen the logic in that.

The only 'extra' I bought when my civic was new was a slimline spare wheel. Have used it once after a puncture in a car park. I used to do a lot of miles and a few around construction sites so at one time I could get several punctures a year. I just feel more secure with the option of the spare and have never used the 'repair kit'.

Apologies for the hijack but is it really a huge difference swapping to non RF in a Cooper? The wife has had one for just over a year and the ride comfort is starting to grate on us a bit.

Unfortunately the current tyres have a fair bit of life in them so I want to make sure it is a marked improvement before spending out. Do non-RF sort out the tendency of them to follow the road camber?

definitely worth doing, ditched my goodyear rf's on my r53 and the handling/ride is definitely improved - not sure if it's as marked a difference in the cooper as the suspension in those is more forgiving to start with! but even for grip alone it's a big improvment
