replacing sky BB router

how hard is it to change the sky router for something better? i think mine is causing netowork problems so want to replace it.

dont want to flash it as ive read it can stop the router working and break the t&c.

so is it just a straight swap or do you have to get some info from sky?

I `Think`you need the user name and password of sky or `rip` it from your sky router (google it )
Don`t you get a new router if you complain to sky though?
