Friend drove into another car while reversing at supermarket. Driver of other car not present so left contact details on windscreen and took photos of damage and registration. Other driver called following day and suggested getting a quote from a repair shop and if my friend was happy to pay for the repair and not get insurance companies involved. Damage is a front wing dent and a cracked rear bumper on friend's car. Both cars 5 years old and around £12-15k if bought second hand today. Should he go ahead, any risks?

His bumper will be at least £400 and the dent on the other car could be £300 easily. Question is, if the other driver says he is happy with £200 should he accept?

Only if the other driver accept, by writing, that the repair provided is the final settlement.
Few years ago a new front bumper for a Peugeot RCZ, left headlight, Peugeot badge and 2 parking sensors, just under 4k, paid by the insurance, to the dealer. Looking around, similar costs. Fair enough the front bumper for the RCZ is huge.

Not sure - £250 for the other car and £450 for replacing his car bumper. The other driver was young so i understand why he probably didn't want the insurance comp to get involved.
