Welcome to the build logs for ROG-BOX

What is ROG-BOX ?
ROG-BOX is a mini itx monster build packing serious punch! Designed just for ASUS/Republic Of Gamers, ROG-BOX is going to play on the RGB Lighting that's offered from the motherboard and GPU.

Design phase

The plan here was to make one mean looking rig, in a compact space, and watercooled.
With a 1070 or 1060 GPU (I didn't plan on a mega mini ITX, but asus had other ideas)
After speaking with ASUS UK, They offered up a ROG Poseidon 1080Ti Which sparked some pretty creative changes as you'll see further down ;)

Spec list (Click parts for links to website)

ASUS ROG Poseidon GTX 1080Ti

On to the actual work!

Started with the shroud (Easiest thing to do)
Cut to size, and bent using heat gun

I then sprayed the shroud, with a matt black powder paint.

i then decided that since the change of hardware, i should have some fun!

i cut up a square of white like so
MkzCLJw.jpg

using vinyl i marked the areas i wanted to keep white and put the logo on. TdSu1yb.jpg

Checked it all fitted, and what it'd look like (I like it)

i then sprayed the plastic with the same black powder paint, waited until dry and peeled off the vinyl.

And tested how they all looked once in

I then went back to the front panel and thought ''This needs something''

So, i got to work

Once that was all done, i peeled off the vinyl again, and was left with this!

This is where i am currently at from 2 days work.
Will hopefully get more done this weekend.
Including sanding all the panel edges, to get them perfect :)

Let me know what you think :)
Thanks for looking.

Yes. This has the potential to be a stunning little system, just don't go OTT and you'll nail it :D

thanks :)

Update
EqgG3bA.png

I started work on the top vent cover/panel.
Got my hands on the sanding belt and also trimmed down and fitted the front panel properly.

Still need to repaint the edges of the front panel, and we should be good to wait for the parts to arrive.
Inner panels will be fitted properly once the system is inside.

EDIT:
Re-done front panel, and top panel. now flush and cleaned.
++ Added new white inserts (these will ignite with the Cablemod RGB Widebeams in the front

Was certainly fun, not 100% sure if i like it, but it'll do for now.

I painted it white first

Loving the work so far, can't wait to see how good this looks when it's finished! :D

Hope you have more luck than me with the motherboard though, very close to binning mine due to crap BIOS that seems to get worse with each update

Aw man that sucks :( Have you tried contacting ASUS ? Might be worth a shot, UK team is generally really good.

Seems to be quite a common issue: Any RAM that's 3000MHz+ fails to POST when set to XMP (same when set manually), then the most recent BIOS update seemed to fix that but M.2 drives disappeared. Checked for an update again earlier today and the most recent, M.2 vanishing act BIOS has been pulled and they've resorted to the RAM failing one again, so hopefully they're searching for a proper fix and it'll be sorted soon. Been a while now though so starting to lose a bit of patience with it :/

Think if I was using one of those fan hubs I'd be replacing it pretty damn quickly. Bad enough when it's a new build and you're stood there ready to unplug it, but imagine the damage it could have caused if you'd gone out for 10 minutes and left the PC running... :(
