What's the best way to do this? I've an old Hario Skerton which I'd like to use tonight to crunch through some spices for my sous vide ribs. Will it work? I've seen about putting white rice through until it comes out clean. Anything else I should do? I'm assuming washing the bits is not a great idea?

Thanks.

there are coffee oils on the internal coffee passage, so unless you can dismantle it to get to pathway+burrs it will ruin spices....
6 monthly grinder maintenance anyway is hot soapy cloth on plastic and scrape crevices on burrs - wooden cocktail stick.
Personally would never use rice - I think it is harder than coffee beans so would nack the burrs and also leave a residue.
