Hi Folks,

Firstly. I am new to the forum and to overclocking. Having done of a bit of research into the subject I decided to have a go at clocking my i5-750.

I only use the computer for Flight Simulator x (with scenery addons etc) so smooth frame rates are key. The spec is:

i5-750 3.0 GHz using quick boost

4 GB Corsair DDR3

1.5TB HDD

ATI 5770 (o/c to 88OMHz GPU and 965MHz mem.)

Gigabyte P55-US3L board

Freezer 7 pro rev.2 cooler

.................................................. .........................................

I have overclocked the i5 to 3.6 Ghz (180 x 20) and it is currently running at about 36C idle and 60C with Flight Sim.

I have used Prime 95 and tested for around 4 hours with no probs - max temp under full-load was 65C.

The questions are;

a) are the temperatures OK ?

b) is this a reasonable o/c for a first go?

c) can I get any more from the i5 and therefore get even better and more stable framerates for FSX?

Many Thanks in advance for any input / advice

Steve

Hi and thanks for the reply.

The Vcore is set at 1.175V and seems to be stable at that. 65C seems like a temp that I feel comfortable with - any higher may cause issues.

Thanks for the FSX link - there is so much talk out there about what is best for FSX . I have come to the conclusion that each setup is unique and what works for one may not work for another. Think I will stick with 3.6 and run for while.

Now all I have to do is tweak the 5770 card........

Thanks again
