Request for a new Multi Screen Gaming PC Spec - but not so quite straight forward...

Pretty much about to order now: Eventually went for better graphics cards, getting 2 x 5870s (GX-002-HS) instead of 2 x 6870s, and replacing the monitors for 3 x BenQ G2420HDBL 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black, as recommended by OCUK. Thanks for everyones help.

Check out some reviews in the 6850/6870 thread. X-fire scaling is much better with the 68xx series and 2x 6870 actually matches 2x 5870 performance for a hell of a lot less cash. The 5870s would OC a little more, but I would still go with the 6870s myself, or wait for 69xx series at the end of the year if you can which will be even better and should also x-fire better still. 5870 really not a good buy now, imho. Up to you though :)

Oh ok, I was just going by what OCUK said when I said "it was recommended I go for 2 6870s, so would like to really? Do you think thats the wrong suggestion?"

Seems I need to do a little bit more research...

I would defantly stick with the 5870's beacuse they are a higher spec card

It is all fine and well to say that the 5870 is the superior card. And as an individual card that is true. However you want to go CrossFire, and in that environment benchmarks prove pretty conclusively that the 6000 series is the way to go. In fact you will end up with a very similar performance comparing 2x5870 and 2x6870.

With that in mind, it would only ever be worth it if you were playing several games that do not work well with CrossFire or if you were on no budget.

Porcelina, because Im not an expert Im just going by what you and OCUK are telling me.

Back to square one then. I could just get the pre-built OCUK Overclocked Ultima system with the additonal 80gig SSD and extra graphics card, 1 of either of these 2 then?:

"Ultima Dreadnought" Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.00GHz DDR3 SLI Option System
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-132-OE&groupid=43&catid=1270&subcat=
+ additionaol OcUK Value GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5

or

"Ultima Vanquish" Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.00GHz Quad Core DDR3 Crossfire Option System
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-065-OE&groupid=43&catid=1270&subcat=
+ additional HIS ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024MB GDDR5

And because its for a 3 screen system, then of course new monitors? Still dont know which monitors to go for? OCUK suggested the BenQ G2420HDBL 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black

Your help is really appreciated. Feel a right idiot asking. Cheers.

Which one would you pick for a 3 screen mainly fps/sim gaming rig?
