Is it a case of disconnecting the battery with modern cars to reset it? Or is it slightly more complicated than this for modern cars or MercedesA Class's?

Thanks, Trif.

(There is a airbag warning light that came on after the doors were replaced and the car needs to be reset for the airbags to be enabled again.)

Might not be much help until the boffins get in here, but by any chance do you have the car manuel? It might say somewhere in there :)

I always thought that has to be done by a proper service centre

Errr, lol... The car? Not sure what but I want(ed) to get the airbags back on, as the ECU has turned them off since they were disconnected by the repair place.

Repair as in crash repair?

If so they migh have cut a wire or messed up the system, the airbag controller is very sensitive, is the airbag light on ?

Yeah, crash damage and its airbag light. They said that it 'has' to be done at a Mercedes dealer. (Insurance job btw.) I think I will just let my Dad take it there, it is just annoying. :( They said it has to be reset at a main dealer.

You have paid for them to fix it fully and to as pre accident condition, its up to them to fix it not you, tell them that!

If they start on you phone your insurance and say you will ask for them to be removed from the approved repair list for your insurance company.

No, the resetting is included in the price, it is just annoying for my Dad (whos company car it is) as it was meant to be replaced on the 7th delayed until today with tomorrow as a fail safe for the repairs to be done. Next swap over can be as late as 2 weeks. :(

Haven't paid, insurance job.

just have a look in your local autotrader, services section. many auto electricians with air bag reset tools. next question...anything between 20 and 45.

IIRC Airbag lights have to be reset using a proper tool. Once the warning light is on - it will remain on. Resetting your ECU won't work - same way it will not reset your milage (if digital).

Ask the dealer nicely - they sometimes do it for free (pot luck).

You'll need to go to your dealer and they will use the diagnostics program to reset it properly. I'm only aware of resetting a few things such as tyre pressure monitor.
